They have lived 10 years in the country and assimilated by marriage. They are American at that point as far as I am concerned. I am extremely disgusted by how bad the US immigration system is to make it so people who spent a decade or more simply can't manage it. At that point the system is not for legally allow people in, its for legally deny people entry. I heard mentions that the system has a wait-list of like 40 years at this point which is just not acceptable.

If Biden wants to step in and do some manual work here then that is fine since this mess should not exist in the first place.

@Syntosi And what makes you think we can take in the whole world? Who is going to pay for them? We only have so many jobs and so much room. We don't have the infrastructure or the money. We may as well have everyone in the world be one of our states at that point.

We can also talk about how USA is mostly undeveloped and could benefit economically from just having more people. And no, not everyone wants to immigrate to USA even if you think its the greatest country in the world.

All our farmland is being sold off. Believe it or not, there are people starving to death in the US. The only places that are uncrowded are in N and S Dakota, Wyoming, and a few other areas. As it is people are fleeing a lot of states because of the high cost of living. So how are all these immigrants going to find affordable housing? How are they going to find jobs? No, they will be a drain on an already poor society, just as all these millions of illegal immigrants in the US now are.

@Daniela1982 Starvation has more to do with distribution rather than production, there is SO MUCH uncultivated land in USA and USA is plenty wealthy enough to import its food if it wanted to. Food can't be an issue as such outside of the actual distribution of it which is sabotaged by capitalistic forces.

Cost of living is also artificial ever since Covid19 where corporations figured out that they could just increase the costs and blame it on inflation.

More people means more jobs. Jobs are fundamentally there to supply society so if the population grows then their needs grows alongside it which provides jobs to fulfill those needs. Besides, those people have already been in USA for 10 years. They already have jobs and even careers not to mention housing.

I dunno. If they're married to US citizens, I'm guessing most of said citizens are white, in which case their kids will be half white and grow up with US culture. If that was the case that sounds pretty good. If they aren't assimilating but just getting citizenship, I say send em back...

There's already a process for that. Why change something that has worked for decades? If the spouse of an American citizen wants to become a citizen themselves, there is a well-defined process for that... it's not rocket science. I've known several couples who have done that, where the spouse is from South America or Europe.

Not sure what to think. Don’t know the current laws governing those people. I would imagine that they are not happy with all of the catering, hospitality and freebies that the current trespassers are receiving. After ten years they should be contributing to the economy. One would hope?
