Although they didn’t dismiss the federal indictment that Trump illegally schemed to cling to power after losing the Presidential election to Joe Biden, Chief John and the Supremes, or Sixpence None the Wiser if you prefer, definitely placed the indictment ball directly in Trump’s court. If elected, he could appoint an Attorney General who could be more favorable towards himself and dismiss the case altogether, or as President, potentially order a pardon for himself (let’s be honest, there’s nothing Trump likes more than a lot of himselfing going on). If you really want to get into conspiracy theory, look up Project 2025 and the possible implications for IF and WHEN the Project gets put into action. (Hint: it’s a conservative initiative written and backed by every major conservative organization in America that has the potential to make Conservatism the only “tism” the USA follows both for now and possibly forever). All it needs is a conservative President to put it into motion. Todays’s Supreme Court ruling now makes it a strong argument for no longer being “if and when” but more like “as soon as”.

Presidential immunity is less to do with Trump but the realisation that if a precedent for convicting & jailing ex & current presidents then Biden, Obama, Bush Jr & Clinton could all find themselves getting the same treatment. He'll even democrat old warhorses like Pelosi, Warren, waters and hillary might find themselves at risk.

Biden on his last day will pardon hunter for all crimes.

I think Nixon was pardoned by Ford but wasn't he considering pardoning himself? I don't know your US constitution but if it gives the power to pardon but doesn't exclude pardoning yourself wouldn't it still be constitutional if not very proper.
