Do you think people were happier in early 1900s America than now?

It seems quite likely that they genuinely were. Despite having more difficult lives and more limited information.
They were as a group more fulfilled. Frankly we have a lot of things depressing us today and demotivating us, from living in ever more unnatural conditions in both family and work to lacking a social and religious support system to keep us stable. We as individuals and as a people are doing very poorly in terms of living.
This is reflected not merely in the record high depression and suicide rate but the loss of family.
Theses are modern problems not problems of the 1900s.
it is "mostly peaceful" today as well... compared to the 40's...
that doesn't mean everyone's happier
different challenges for different mindsets, I guess...
I'll tell you one thing though... there were no Cheetos back then, Cheetos only exists, in part, because of Hitler's fall... two-win right there
Some people lol. A lot of other people wete miserable.
Exactly. Anyone living in the unsanitary slum quarters of London, Paris, Berlin…

No, there were horrible diseases. Most people did not have indoor plumbing. Nobody had cable either. It might be a fun place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.
Yes. We measure happiness with false metrics these days. The world was always happier.
Americans were happiest and most free post WW2 to the 90's before the Democrat caused decline took hold, starting with Obama. It is looking like it will take bloodletting to recover it.
Ya, life was pretty much figured out. It was easier to get by and people interacted with eachother more
