How would Mike Tyson be perceived in today’s modern era?

Mike Tyson is perhaps one of the biggest and most well-known boxers in the past few decades, especially in the minds of the general public and casuals. His reputation and antics inside and outside the ring are renowned on a legendary level, almost.

But it’s also a fact that his behavior and persona in the media and his public appearances have been quite notorious in nature. He has made several bizarre statements throughout his career, talking about eating his opponent's children, raping other men, etc. It’s understandable that it was fight talk, but it is evident that Mike in his younger days had no filter and his aura was something else.

The 1990s were a completely different time period; accountability was a rare factor back then, and people didn’t really care about such behavior but were rather amused by it. There’s also a lot of legal controversy attached to Tyson’s image.

In contemporary times, the community and hardcore combat sports fans always seem to give flak to fighters who are controversial in nature. Calling them out on their behavior or statements is right; take Jon Jones, for example.

In the current day of social media and other dynamics, how do you think the general public and casuals would perceive someone like Tyson? Would he get hated on or worshipped like always?
