Why do poor neighborhoods vote for left wing governments?

I could not help but turn down this street to see dilapidated houses and trash everywhere... Yet at every Yard there was a party sign that is for socialist policies... I don't under stand but I would think these people in the slums don't want to work so they vote for a party who is going to give them free shit. Like the Obama phone, Black privilege card for free schooling. Raise the ODSP or welfare check so they get more money?

Does anyone realize that government spending on social programs that give people free stuff does not help anyone? Poverty is a choice I think...

As for "socialist policies" these are people who need assistance for a variety of reasons - some, but not most, self inflicted such as having numerous kids out of a stable relationship. They face massive institutional barriers that you can't or won't see. Isn't helping people the Christian thing to do?

That's not a de-funding. A group of LEOs get other roles. If I understand community policing correctly, it will lead to police being even more visible. If this works out as planned remains to be seen, but it has nothing to do with de-funding and you know it.

The police were never defunded. What defunding the police actually means is taking things off their plate so they can focus on law enforcement - their objective.

1980: The NYPD had 26,913 officers. This period marked the beginning of significant growth in the department's size.

2000: The number of uniformed officers peaked at 40,285, a 49.7% increase from 1980.

2019: The NYPD had 36,461 uniformed personnel

This in a city that has LOST population since then; it follows there would be staffing reductions
