Why do college girls wear tank tops that they aren't willing to show under their sweatshirts?

Today in class a girl I sit next to said "it is so hot in here".

So I responded with "take off your sweatshirt"

She said "i can't because my tank top is a little see through"

So she proceeded to check and sure enough you could see her bra clearly had poka dots on it.

Why would she check if she already knew. Did she want me to see her bra?

First, when I wear a tank under anything it's usually because whatever I'm wearing is really loose and I'm uncomfortable without the tank top. It doesn't mean I'll be comfortable taking off the top layer.

Second, it's easy to forget what bra you're wearing and how much it shows depends on the lighting. I have a few shirts that are more see through in bright lights. (Was she asking you to look at it to believe her or did you just get a glimpse?)

As for flirting with you, I don't know. That's not how I flirt but I know girls who would flirt like that. It's not the best way of getting attention but whatever. If it works it works.

after she said she couldn't take it off, she said I doubt anyone would want to see what I am wearing. So joked around and said I doubt that lol. So she proceeded to lift up her sweatshirt and show me it was see through. The girl on the other side said o it is poka dots, and she said yes.

So why did she purposely show me it was a little see through?

I don't know what to tell you. If it were me, that wouldn't be flirting, it would me making a point. However for a few of my friends, that would be flirting.

I wear tank tops under my sweatshirts but when I don't take them off its not because of them being see through, its because a spaghetti strapped tank top isn't in my comfort zone. Anyways I can't say that she was flirting with you, but as for trying to get your attention the wrong way? Yea. She already knew it was see through and your confirmation wasn't needed.

Nah, she was just making sure. She may be comfortable with you seeing her bra under her tank top, but not everyone else. Guys will eyeball her and girls will think she's a ho. That's college for ya
