What it is with the right wing and lying about the magnitude of things?

In the last few days, I've been told:

"Biden and Harris already let in over 13 million illegal immigrants since 2021". Lie.

Unrealised capital gains would be taxed at 50% under Harris (and normal people will suffer because of it)!!! Lie.

And the classic "there was massive voter fraud in 2020" extrapolates dozens of cases (at least half by Republicans) to thousands or tens of thousands. Lie.

In fact, the number of illegal immigrants entering the country is closer to 2 million; is that too many? That's a reasonable discussion to have. You can't base a reasonable discussion on lies. It didn't stop there, they still pretended it was over 10 million.

Under Harris' proposal, unrealised capital gains would be taxed at 25%, AND it only affects people worth more than $100 MILLION, sorry if that's anyone here!

I think the decently obvious answer is the differences in news sources. The right wing certainly doesn't trust yours but I don't usually see them lie. Easy way to test by the way, just ask why they say it and if honest they will give you the source or take it back for merely having heard it.

It's not just news sources that underlie my opinions, they include official statistics (which they use when they're in their favour), sworn court documents and evidence, and more.

Same for the right wing, but as you say people tend to see sources that are useful to their narrative and lets be honest many statistics can be heavily skewed to begin with in either direction.

Is it really the same? Seriously? What happened to Senators Al Franken and Bob Menendez? Have you looked at the evidence against Trump and his co-conspirators?

Trump and his team *in their own words*:

-Knew they lost
-Knew it was not legal for Pence to over turn
-Knew the states did not have fraud issues
-Researched "alternative electors" a month in advanced of those claims
-Knew the documents were unofficial
-Took part in the transfer process
-And attempted to pass off forged documents directly to the VP
-Because of a pre-meditated plan to steal the election.

The first volumes represent 1889 pages of evidence, 70% still under seal.

This is just from the 30% unsealed, and there are more volumes to go.

The case could not be more clear.

And as a reminder, Trump's team refused to dispute the authenticity of any of this evidence, they only ask for it to be delayed as it would "hurt their client" during the election.

Pretty sure we already had plenty of conversations about that one, not in the mood to go another 30 messages back and forth. We already know neither of us will change our mind. My desire to not do yet another long rebuttal is also amplified by the fact that I always have to do 10 times more work to get real sources because the search engines are one sided and list irrelevant information first.

Cause he can't find any evidence to prove you wrong. Folks like that are so far gone with Trump, I truly believe some of his supporters in general just feel stupid to admit they were wrong about they guy. And honestly it's not stupid to say you were wrong. Disputing court decisions and saying that everything was rigged against Trump is exhausting to argue. He is right though. You're not going to change his mind because he doesn't want his mind changed. Once you believe the courts were rigged against him or statistics are manipulated... you can't converse. it's a waste of time.
