How can people be so deceiving and evil?

Isn't that a question for the ages? We are a species of incredible diversity, between people being able to discover particles that make up reality to people who aren't even sure if the Earth is flat or a globe. Sure, things would be boring if everyone was the same, but I don't like corruption or evil, or anyone who makes other people feel like they're not allowed to exist in peace.

The short answer is: how they were raised, traumatic experiences as well as neglect during certain situations, and the people they've met and socialized with. On top of that, there's intelligence to consider, and their moral code is nudged in different directions based on how their life has been as well as just making an effort to give a damn about other people.

Some people just don't have that ability to be empathetic, at least not to a useful degree. On the opposite end, there's plenty of peaceful people who stay so quiet and locked away in their rooms you may never meet them.

It's also just really tough to accept someone telling you "Hey, I think your moral compass sucks," pretty much everyone will get defensive about that. All you can do is avoid evil to the best of your ability and try to nurture people you find to be good, as well as check in on yourself and question your own beliefs from time to time to make sure you haven't also fallen into a bias (like racism, sexism, etc)

have experienced this. you have to define deceiving and evil. I call it lying and being selfish, possibly intentionally hurtful.

Because of how their brain was wired in early life. A combination of peresonality and how they interpreted events in life.

Oncre formed, they can do "evil" to others and it will feel right and good to them. That's your "narcissistic" spectrum.

And these people are smart and often rise to the top of enterprises... they are all over the place.

Not everyone has a heart, a good heart all throughout life.

The Bible covers a lot of this and my eyes opened more when I experienced it and re-read the stories.

the short answer is... trauma... it's a fallen world.

The question is, what now... that you discovered the reality of this world?
