Well... in a piece of palpable irony, it turns out that Thompson had NO executive protection in place because - wait for it - --- UnitedHealth Group was too cheap and too arrogant to buy it for him OR for any of their other executives. This is a company that has no respect for the lives of the people they insure or for the people that work for them.

He clearly didn’t think a rich & all powerful CEO could ever be harmed by a low level peasant especially not in the back after exiting a hotel in NYC.

What we forget when we have status, fame, money, and power is that we are just like those we deem as ‘lesser’ which is beings of vulnerability, flawed perception, and can make mistakes… I’m sure the current CEOs of corporations are shaking in their boots and will order additional security measures & possibly look a-likes to make sure that the coast is clear so there aren’t any instances of assassins next time while squeezing the people for maximum profit as usual.

What happened was awful and two wrongs don’t make a right, though I will say that corporations were greedy before and will continue their greed afterward because that is how they roll, only difference is more security and thought than before.

Extra Note: After the whole Sub Implosion incident I thought billionaires would be smarter, safer, and more cautious along with their allies / families / corporate entities though I was wrong so there might be future instances weirdly enough.

As a shareholder (of any company) why should I pay for a CEO's protection unless it is specifically enumerated in his compensation package? Dude wasn't poor. If he wanted protection he could have paid for protection. Not my job to give it to him.

We literally offer professional security, armed and unarmed. Just because a company charges you more doesn't mean you're inherently getting better. The same rules and general practices still apply. Plan ahead and keep your ward safe. If guns are used, someone fucked up bad.

I know it's not. But I can't get prescriptions for anything stronger and to fix the pain requires surgery I can't afford and won't risk. I dont aim to live past 60 or so anyways so I don't really mind the risk
