The woman who accused Duke lacrosse players of rape admitted to lying the whole time. And not only that, in the meantime she murdered her boyfriend and is in prison. Insane :O

I remember back then this case was so big people would just bring it up in casual conversation. I didn't even know anything about what was going on in the U. S. but I knew a few American people and I heard Duke lacrosse players multiple times over the years.

Quite horrendous. Local to me, a girl got an elderly gay guy kicked to death by running out of a park screaming she had been raped. Falsely of course.

In another case a wife wanted to be rid of her husband. She could have the normal thing and applied for divorce but instead arrange for her BFF to seduce him and to wait for him to get to the point of ejaculation and to unexpectedly withdraw consent.

Of course he could not immediately stop the final thrust and was very technically found guilty of rape. After 5 years she did confess to the setup and he was pardoned.

In neither case was there any penalty for the girl.

In an inverse case a schoolteacher was found guilty of sex with an under age student, but the judge found she had been heavily punished by the community so was discharged.

False accusation might be rare but is equally a sex offense. and should have equal punishment.

Australia. And yes it is crazy. The girl running out of the park screaming rape could have been charged with incitement but no she wasn't charged with anything. Not even a false report.

Clearly rape is difficult because sex is an ordinary human activity and usually in privacy without witnesses. I think it is also possible for a man to be having consensual sex in his view while the girl thinks she is being raped.

Where there is proof that a girl is making a false accusation there should be punishment commensurate with what would have applied to rape. In the UK a girl bought a hammer and hit herself in the face with it to support her claim of rape.

but you gotta wonder how many people are in prison... wrongfully... due to people lying or making mistakes in judgement.

Nope, but that's why I'd never vote to convict someone on a jury for rape, unless there is strong evidence. I need to see DNA, defensive wounds, forensic evidence from the crime seen, video surveillance, etc. I don't trust people. Too many lies get thrown around by spited lovers and drama queens... So many people are full of shit.
