Have you heard of Jean-Marie le Pen, who died yesterday, making Trump look like a moderate?

Jean-Marie Le Pen was a French politician who founded the National Front movement in 1972. He participated in acts of torture during the Algerian War, befriended a former Waffen-SS officer, and controversially referred to gas chambers as "a mere detail of history."

Le Pen once made a deeply offensive pun targeting the then Minister of Civil Service, Michel Durafour, saying: "Mr. Durafour crematoire" (a wordplay linking his name to cremation).

In another instance, in May 2014, as honorary president of the National Front, he provocatively commented on global population growth by saying, "Monsignor Ebola could take care of it in three months," referring to the Ebola virus that had caused thousands of deaths in Africa.

As early as 1984, he stated that while homosexuality was not "a crime," he considered it "a biological and social anomaly."

Le Pen also made derogatory remarks about the Roma people, saying they were like birds because "they naturally steal."

He further expressed a preference for seeing cows rather than Arabs.
