If the single person has good mental and physical health, zero criminal record and can afford the child without government assistance I see no problem with allowing single people to adopt.

I do have a problem if the adopting single is not hetero.

Most children turn out hetero. But there could pressure to be gay with a gay father. And a real gay father couldn't have children since he doesn't like girls so it could be widely used and abused rule.

No, because then any abuser can adopt. You say no criminal record but I am talking about before they are found out. It's not as if anyone would know until too late, the purpose of a 2nd party makes it less likely as it creates a witness.

Kids are witnesses all of the time. Prosecutor: "Point on the doll to where your adopted father touched you" Kid: "here." They tell a teacher (or the teacher observes an indicator for abuse) and the teacher calls the police.

You're essentially advocating to eliminate tens of thousands? hundreds of thousands? millions? of potentially great adoptive parents on the off chance that one of them who would otherwise not be a child molester if they had a partner, would decide to become an adoptive child molester because it's slightly less likely they'd get caught. Where do you think these kids are staying now, waiting for adoption? Learn to logic.

A kid in such scenario of been abused isn't aware of how to get help, or if it's even wrong.

Also funny how you use the argument of a teacher aka a direct example of the kid needing an adult to somehow in your mind think that's proving the kid can do it on their own.

And pray tell how does a kid answer a proscuter without intervention from another adult?

When did I say that you don't have other adults involved? and where do you think kids waiting for adoption are living now? So anyone knows that leaving kids in the current foster system is way sketchier than adopting them out to single parents who have been vetted.

The fact that there will be other people in the adopted child's life (teachers, social workers, etc.) is not contingent on the fact that the adopting parent may or may not have a spouse. Plenty of kids get molested by people with spouses, and vetted single adoptees are likely a much better situation for a lot of kids than the current foster system and group homes.

You're hyper-focused on the creepy perky dude who has zero criminal background, happens to be single and manages to get a kid in his care so he can molest it in a way that none of the other adults involved in the supervision and support of adopted kids would detect, meanwhile denying a massive population of potentially excellent homes out there while kids are currently in group homes and abusive foster situations.

If another parent is there they can stop it. It's that simple whether they do or not is on them but it's more likely they at least can compared to can't.

For example if my dad had not be separated with my mother she likely wouldn't of got away with her abuse as much due to him stepping him. Perhaps even taking me away for her.
But because he was separated, all he got was stories that had no real proof or way he could stop it.

Absolutely. When I was 15 I was homeless and a 40 year old man adopted me. We are married now.
