Stop worrying and learn to love the lie... Crappy movie references aside I would actually argue that lying is an important social skill that is required for society to function. Simply put, we are not built to handle the real truth of how other people think and feel. The truth is certainly important but without the small white lies we tell other people every day we would probably be living very isolated and depressing lives.
If you trust someone then you also trust that when they lie to you it is not to hurt you but might actually be to your benefit.
A guy I know once said: 90% of everything is crap. I'm inclined to agree.
