Certainly checks and balances in our republic are a good thing. Recently the USA has been swinging every two years in who holds power in the 3 branches of gov. We don’t need an executive branch having the power of a king. so yes, thankfully what the potus can do has some limits and what changes now in laws will continue to change over time

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The state governments actually seem to have more power. The president always gets blamed for high prices and unemployment, but really it's a state level issue, but some states are better off than others.

They do though. Just a couple days ago the mayor of Chicago said Chicago is gonna keep being a sanctuary city.

Here’s the sad reality, all jokes aside:

Politics has become toxic and the winning strategy is to villainize your more powerful opponent as psychologically that motivates people to vote AGAINST someone on Election Day and not for someone. So both sides do this today.

Both republicans and democrats (originates from the far sides of each) will find reasons to hate and slander their opponent and then spread talking points that others pick up and echo.

About 80% of the USA are moderate, people who work for their families and lean one side or the other. Many of these people don’t much care about politics anyway and will only invest efforts in voting close to Election Day and will be influenced by many things but often by a Champion (trusted leader) who shows them how to vote and why. That Champion used to be a family leader or local politician or leader of a community for most of the history of the USA and these days the champion is too often Fox News or MSNBC..

This is why I’ll repeatedly say that far right people slander AOC or Biden or (fill in a name in 2 years when the next national election warms up) to villainize that person. Clinton, Obama, Biden all were The most idiotic and evil people to them over the years.

Same for the far left. Right now it’s Trump who is Hitler according to them. Give it 6 years and likely Vance or DeSantis will be the next Hitler.
