Which one is more important, humans or insects?

If all the insects in the world disappeared, the ecosystem would collapse, but if all humans disappeared, the Earth would recover and thrive. In that case, are we truly the rightful owners of this planet, or merely unwelcome guests? And if insects are more essential than we are, why are we applauded when we kill them, but when they bite us, it becomes a big deal?
