He is hardly being chased, his daughter is nowhere to be seen and his Secret Service guys are right where they are supposed to be.

All that said - I give him credit for engaging with people and for his patience with constant interruptions and a ton of "whataboutisms". This is something Trump would not and could not have done.

I don't see said video in the article you link that would debunk the claim. The footage does not cover the contested portion.

He says this in the tweet "I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone. (Nearly all of them agreed.) It was a mostly respectful conversation"

I agree this is what I see in the video, a respectful conversation. But the video begins when that is ongoing. To debunk his claim we need footage from before the "mostly respectful conversation" which would be footage of him arriving. If he were to arrive and immediately began answering questions like this the claim would be debunked. If he arrived at yells and chants to him and his daughter, negotiates a conversation to diffuse tension and leaves his claim is justified. If its clearly towards him and the daughter just happens to be there i'd say he could word it better.

I just watched this. People should not be allowed to stalk politicians. Stalking him when he was on vacation last week was a dick move. All those people should have been detained by the Secret service for a few days while they were investigated. These people are unhinged. I watched a group of protesters in front of a Tesla dealership. I never saw such a group of misguided, brainwashed people in my life. They are protesting in favor of government waste, It was obvious that some of them were government workers who will soon be unemployed. I guess since most of them are now unemployable and will never get anywhere near the salary and benefits that they have now it is understandable.

Stalking politicians and confronting them is part of free speech and part of what politicians sign up for. Suggesting that the Secret Service investigate people for protesting is just bullshit.
