Just had an interaction with a member that was angry that Elon and Trump are dismantling waste in the government and listed social security and Medicare as one of the reasons. Obviously when I challenged him to back up his claims he blocked me.

So it got me thinking on how someone can be so clueless and believe the lies that the media post.

So do you think this is just classic not very intelligent, or do you think they know they are being lied to but they don't care because it goes along with how they feel?

The responsible thing to do is have multiple news sources and have an understanding of each sources biases. Put together you should have a comprehensive understanding of what's going on.

There is a high bar of due diligence and responsibility on each and every individual to do the homework needed to comprehend reality.
