    They've shown their colours haven't changed since they chose civil war over ending slavery.

    They created the Klan, Jim Crow, Segregation etc.

    Not a pedigree to aspire to

    They should probably just change the name from Democrat to Communist party and be done with it.

    I remember the day when Democrats loved this country and wanted what's best for it.

    No. Donald Trump is. He is a threat to the entire human race and Earth.

      And, believe it or not, peace CAN be horrible... ask any oppressed civilization.
      For example, peace in the American colonies was fine... until it wasn't.

      I wouldn't be calling you out on this if I didn't genuinely think you're doing a massive disservice by calling Trump a threat to the human race and Earth. The peace wasn't the problem in any of those situations. And it certainly wasn't the problem in the American colonies. Donald Trump's stated intentions, his actual actions and the results he obtains have consistently been the promotion of peace and the overall well being of law abiding world citizens.

      The notion that he is a threat to the world, and more specifically, that he's somehow more of a threat than the Washington establishment has been demonstrated blatantly false at every opportunity.

      @ProbablyClueless He is.
      Trump is undoing pretty much everything good that the United States and Western countries have built up since the end of World War I.
      I am sorry you don't see that but most people don't because they don't think of the chain of causality. The younger you are, the less likely you are to see this because, when you are older, you see that chain of causality at work because you have lived long enough to be aware of how current conditions arose due to actions in the past.

      No he is not. Even in the case of organizations like NATO, he's expressly stated that he sees the value, he just wants to renegotiate the level of US contributions.

      Trump is only undoing things that no longer serve the US's best interests or are based on lies. I'm a student of history. Age does not beget wisdom, my friend.

      @ProbablyClueless He is not cognizant of what is in the US's best interests.

      And it helps to be a student of history when you live through more of it. You don't read about it; you live it.

      Reality strongly begs to differ. I refer back to my comment about age not begetting wisdom. If you don't think that securing access to greater natural resources, shoring up our military, not limitlessly funding other countries', improving education outcomes, providing greater access to housing, and securing national borders isn't in the country's best interest, I'd say that you're the one who isn't cognizant.

      @ProbablyClueless
      1. Securing access to natural resources is important. At the same time, natural resources run out and it is important to be cognizant of that to avoid becoming dependent on a finite resource that will eventually be exhausted. You would be leery of this had you lived during the onset of the Energy Crisis (which never actually went away) in October 1973.
      2. Allies are a resource. Alienating them doesn't help.
      3. "Shoring up our military" is important - I don't debate that.
      4. We aren't needlessly funding other counties. Furthermore, by doing so, we invest in ourselves in two ways: 1) it helps from a foreign policy perspective and 2) most of the money is actually spent here in the US. Also, "funding other countries" - which isn't what we do - we give aid (which ends up mostly spent here) and that aid is about 1.6% of the US Federal Budget.
      5. Securing our borders is important, no doubt. Then do it properly. That involves a shitload of legislation and lawsuits because, in essence, 1) the Federal Government would have to own all the property that borders another country, 2) the Federal Government would have to militarize it and that requires Congress to make a dedicated military branch for that; right now, using the US military within the borders of the US for that is illegal. The National Guard is not exactly national initially; it's run by the states. So, Congress needs to act. Furthermore (having worked at a defense think tank 32 years ago), walls don't do much because enemies can go over them or under them or around them.
      6. Provide greater access to housing? That's not going to occur because the fundamental problem there is the wealth gap. Long story. And Trump is no icon with this... Learn about the October 1973 Federal lawsuit against him and his father for violating the 1968 Fair Housing Act. I remember when this was front page news on the New York Times.

      1. I already told you I'm a student of history. I know about the energy crisis of 73. Trump's answer to this is investment into nuclear technologies and modular power development. The problem with the Democrat solution is that green energy source alternatives have proven unreliable and costly. Nuclear is the future.
      2. Calling the Europeans "allies" is a bit silly. They antagonize us constantly, spend lots of our money, and barely lift a finger to our defense concerns.
      4. Look into USAID expenditures and you'll see that the vast majority of it is superfluous; little more than bribes.
      5. This plainly false. The Constitution already grants the federal government full power police to enforce borders. US Customs and Border and Homeland already handle the border. Both of them are militarized.
      6. A 1973 lawsuit against the President for violating the Fair Housing Act is entirely irrelevant to this conversation. That was then, this is now. And now Trump is restructuring the funding to programs like HUD to build more housing and subsidize access.
