Aren't people in America afraid of living in the suburbs?

Suburbs are very far from city centers. And since they are single-story buildings, I think they are less safe. Considering the high crime rates in America, I think living in the suburbs is scary. I started to be afraid of the suburbs, especially after watching American horror movies. What do you think?

Hahaha…well, most people who talk shit about cities, aren’t from there. There are very fearful people out there who have just been led to believe that cities are overrun with homeless drug addicts with chainsaws looking to rob and kill your whole family while the police do nothing🤣🤣🤣

The impressions that people in other countries have of America crack me up. Their media must report nothing but bad things. "If it bleeds, it leads" in the headlines.

So, depending on what kind of suburb (incorporated or unincorporated city) you live in, I'd say they are quite safe. And that has been my personal experience, too.

Largely depends what suburb you live in. If its an older one built pre 1990 that's full of crime and white flight has happened sure. Where i live is suburb with new build 2 story houses, with a pool at the back, four bedrooms an open plan kitchen/living room, a sitting room, garage, basement, porch and a sizeable front garden that's easy to mow. We have a Ford Truck for him and a min van for me. Life is pretty good. The neighborhood is full of working professionals. We have talked about moving into a gated community.

Suburbs are often inhabited by the poorer class off people. Poor people will be more likely to take risks to gain money, sometimes they even take extreme measurements to get money to survive. But if you live in those suburbs you are used to the people that also live there because they often can relate to eachother. Suburbs or more dangerous for outsiders then for the inhabitants
