I mean - it is pretty clear that Trump is above the law since he has immunity from the Supreme Court and can and does do as much crime as he wants with no consequences. He could literally murder someone and as long as it was part of his "official duties" nothing would happen to him...

President Trump is shown a great deal of restraint with these unelected low level judges that have been making nationwide rulings that effect the whole country. He could have ignored them and since he controls the DOJ there is nobody that would arrest him. Just like Joe Biden did when the Supreme Court ruled that he did not have the authority to cancel 10 billion dollars in student debt and when Hunter Biden after being subpoenaed to appear before congress he stood on the steps od the Capitol, thumbed his nose at Congress and got in his limo and went to Nantucket for Thanksgiving neither criminal was arrested.

President Trump is observing the Constitution and federal statute by putting a law through Congress that will nullify these decisions and stop these judges from overstepping their power.

@msc545 Sean Duffy has outlined a plan to upgrade the hardware and software on equipment used to control Air Traffic and to hire more staff and how to train them. It is something that every past administration including Trump's first term is to blame for it's neglect. It is long overdo and needs to be treated as a priority.

The correct approach is to outline a plan, implement it, test it (preferably alongside the existing working system, for safety), then possibly encourage qualified ATCs to retire if it really turns out fewer are needed. Not to fire the essential people first, then propose a replacement that won't be ready for years (complex software projects always take significant time to implement).

@goaded Duffy proposed getting recently retired ATCs to come back to fill current vacancies while new ones are being trained. He also proposed running both systems in parallel. It is embarrassing how the system has been neglected. I know an ATC who was hired after Reagan fired the ATCs in the 70s. He is long retired but had mentioned several times over the years how old the computers were.

What did Trump do to improve things during his first term? We all know his actions resulted in lower numbers of qualified ATCs and lower morale in his second.

I don't think most people understand how complicated the job of an air traffic controller really is and how difficult it is to become one, not anybody can do this. It requires certain personal and psychological characteristics that most people do not possess. It takes a very long time to become a fully qualified air traffic controller with a great deal of training and experience required. It is also a very stressful job and a lot of people that do it don't last all that long because of the stress. As a pilot, I have spoken to a lot of air traffic controllers performing their official duties in regard to my flying and they are people who literally save lives everyday. The shortage of air traffic controllers is due primarily to the stress of the job and the length of the training and is not political in nature at this point at least.

@goaded no, the retirement age for ATCs is 52 which is actually pretty young. He wants to offer them bonuses to stay on another year or two.

Why do you think the mandatory retirement age for ATCs is 56 (not 52)? It's because it's a very demanding job that requires a lot of brain power. The eligibility for FERS for ATCs is either: a) age 50 with 20 years of service, or b) any age with 25 years of service (but they don't hire people over 30 when they apply).

Again, the sensible and moral thing to do is not fire them while you still need them, not beg them to come back after you encouraged them to go.

Trump is only excused by the supreme court on his presidential time. That whole coin dinner was claimed to be on private time (even though a president doesn't get time off, they claimed it)... using presidential seals and transport + security. He could be removed for the alone in a mountain of removals building all day every day.

Biden got bunch of americans murdered, and killed Afghans.. got bunches killed in the Darian Gap, if he was a mafia boss, he'd be guilty. Trump murdered an Iranian general... an act of international terrorism.

They are the top of the law, and very difficult to get.
