Musk was running it at first. You knew that would hurt Trump's extremely fragile ego when everyone was focused on him instead so this seemed inevitable. The problem is Trump only hires asskissing suckups who mindless obey him so he has hired almost no one who is actually qualified so when Trump unsurprisingly stops doing his job, there are no competent people in the background to run things, just morons who tell him what he wants to hear all the time. At least at end of his first term when he stopped running America to focus on how to overturn his lopsided election loss, there were competent and patriotic people to run things. We don't have that this time.

Ironically a politican who leaves the country alone outside of crisis situations is often considered a very good politican. It is one of the few occupations where doing nothing is enough to be average at your job.
