I don't think he's mad. I do think he has some cognitive decline, though.

I think the root problem is twofold. The first being that he's a sociopath. He's a narcissist, totally lacking in empathy, lies without a shred of remorse, and manipulates others into giving him what he wants. All hallmarks of full blown sociopathy.

The other problem is that he's a very weak person. He admires those that he perceives as strong and powerful; dictators, because he possesses neither of those traits, and he wants to be like them.

He thinks he DOES have those traits, though, and so he acts tough, until he encounters someone with more presence and authority than he has, at which point he capitulates due to his adoration, which is why those same people he idolizes walk all over him.

When someone harms his ego, he lashes out like a wounded animal, because he's desperate to project that strength that he doesn't have, which just comes off as pathetic, and worst of all, harmful. Then he manufactures a "victory" to soothe his wounded ego.

He is dangerous, but not for the reasons he thinks. He is dangerous for all the things he lacks, and tries to compensate for.
