It’s Father’s Day! What do you want to say to your dad today?

Whether your father is still in your life or just in your heart, today brings up a lot of emotions. Some of us grew up with love and guidance, others with silence or absence. So if there was one thing you could honestly say to your father today, what would it be?

When i was 14 I was dating a Pakistani boy, nothing too serious and just going to the movies, kissing holding hands. Anyway he walked me down an alleyway to show me something cool in an abandoned house that the doors were hanging off. When there out appeared 3 older Pakistani in their 40s and on the floor was a mattress. They grabbed a hold of me and I screamed and they were trying to pull my jeans down as I struggled. Out of nowhere my father appeared and beat the crap out of the three guys, he'd spotted with the Pakistani boy in that rough neighbourhood on his way home from work and followed to take me home for dinner. My father was a royal Marine and had served in Afghanistan & Iraq now he's an electrician with his own buisness.

Anyway my Dad took me home and reported it to the police who did nothing and the three Pakistani men were trying to get charges brought against my father for an islamaphobic hate crime and assault. Anyway the police didn't charge anyone in the end.

A week later the local Pakistani rape gang landed outside our home looking for revenge with bats and machetes. My father went out with a nail bar and hammer on his own but in seeing that they all backed away. The police arrived quickly and arrested my father and the gang dispersed. My family had to go to my uncle's for a month. Eventually it all settled down, my father was released without charges and the paper broke the story about the local Pakistani rape gang as victims were coming forth, they forgot about our family as they were all faces prosecution and prision terms. They are all currently in prison.

That's why my father is my hero. He never backed down once and he wouldn't let those animals hurt me.

Do you remember slugging mom? I do. I remember the police and ambulance. No, you don't recall. You left before they arrived.

Do you know that mom, me and my brother, your other son, lived in a Volkswagen? Do you remember paying child support? No, of course not. But, you hid your assets so we couldn't get what was owed.

Do you know that my brother killed himself because he struggled for years trying to understand why you abandoned us?

I don't blame you for ditching me. My Mom is a bitch and she made every man and person miserable around her. All that child support money you'd pay her... she never spent that on me. My dad and I don’t have the best relationship. He was never loving or affectionate towards me when I was a kid, which did negatively affect me. I got all of the love and affection from my mother. Anyway, I could say a whole lot more, but a leave it at that. So, when Father’s Day rolls around, it’s difficult to buy him a card. I literally can’t relate to anything those cards say.
