NBS is generally considered "left-leaning" (mild bias) with fairly high degrees of factual reporting according to bias rating. Basically, they are likely to produce articles that are factual and accurate, but report more frequently on topics that are more in line with the left's perspective. Basically take it with a grain of salt when engaging with that particular news source.

If you're looking for fairly unbiased news, you're probably looking at Reuters, AP News, etc

No. It’s a business. The vast majority of businesses are the opposite of democratic. There’s generally a well established hierarchy that resembles a monarchy.
