Do you feel prices going down? Confident on buying things from Amazon, Acceptable rent, etc? Are you afraid to spend money?

8 moNothing has gone down in price in the past year... nothing. I'm not hurting personally because I've got real estate and lots of rental properties, so my income is steady. However, a lot of my friends are hurting. They've lost jobs, been laid off, or been forced to lay off employees of their own. It's not pretty out there in Scumpie land.

Where’s scampi land
- 8 mo
"Scumpie land" ... It's a mockery, or more accurately, a description of "Trump" using the word "scum". Replace the T, R, U, M with SCUM, add the P back in, and you get "Scump", which rhymes with Trump.
So because he's a child, a little Scump would be "Scumpie". Because he's President, the USA is now "Scumpie-land". Hope that clears it up.

I got a pretty decent raise at work and when i file my federal taxes for 2025 there will be a nice tax cut for me.
I have a CD that will mature next month. It is almost disappointing that interest rates will be lower becuse i want to renew it for another year. I suppose you can;t win them all.

Prices down? I hardly think so, someone told me they got 15 items at Kroger $100. That’s not a lot of items for grocery shopping
- 8 mo
I bought two 18 packs of eggs last week for 8.99. I bought gas today 2.75 /gallon. way better than 5 bucks a gallon like when Biden was president. I see some things going down. The biggest thing is that prices are not going up, and up every week like when Biden was president. Prices always go up fast but are slow to go down.

8 moThings are good. We are very comfortable. Life is good.
even when growing up, we didn’t have money… I didn’t feel anything regarding prices… I just bought what I was able to affird… that helped me be good with money.
after all these yrs… I have a good career with good pay and hubby and I invest well… so we are doing really well.
not too late for you… I found Dave Ramsey online 2 years ago… listen to his podcast on YouTube…00 Reply Bell peppers were $0.25 at the store yesterday. They use to be $1. Cut SNAP for a couple days and all the sudden grocery prices drop through the floor.

Ever still complaining how high groceries are. Plus rent. I see it where I’m at. And no I’m not in California

Everyone I mean.

It doesn't matter to me if Democrats are complaining. They always complain because they are not independent thinkers. Price drops are real. Anyone that's not a cult member, should be able to see the real price drops, but some people can't think for themselves, they just echo the narrative. On top of that, Trump just released a Truth that every American citizen except high income earners will get at least a $2000 check from tariff money raised this year.
- 8 mo
Ha! I remember it was a check for 5k. It ain’t gonna happen. Consider the population here. There’s no way they can afford to send that out
- 8 mo
That's the first time I've seen Trump post about sending out a tariff dividend check. I know Elon said he wanted to send a check from DOGE savings but said he would need to get approval first. Then the media made up a false narrative about it. None the less, I'm not holding my breath waiting for a check either way. It is interesting how the media brainwashed you though.
- 8 mo
Not brainwashed. Being realistic. Also I see prices everyday myself. They are high. The apartments rent is averaging 1k a month.
- 8 mo
You're not being realistic when it was a "financial proposal" by a government employee that has no decision making power for a "potential payment" dealing with "DOGE" not tariffs. Everything you said is unrelated and based in a delusional fantasy that has been programmed into your head by the boob tube.

In contrast to an unrelated propose, you have Trump posting "A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people) will be paid to everyone".

One statement is by a consultant coming into government as a temporary employee to reduce costs whom thinks it would be a good idea to give some of the savings back to the people. He runs it up the chain of command as a good idea, which was never approved by higher up, but may still be on the table as a separate check, while the second check is spoken about by the President himself, of a minimum of $2000, maybe more from tariff money that was already raised and is sitting in an account right now ready to use to give money back to the people and to pay down the national debt.
- 8 mo
Trump says a lot of things though. Doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. I’d love it if I get a check. But won’t count on that
- 8 mo
Just have to sort out the case at the Supreme Court over tariffs/separation of powers. Democrats don't like that Trump imposed tariffs on large international corporations that import good which are being used to pay down the national debt and give money to American citizens. They want to protect the mega globalist corporations and give the middle finger to America so the Democrats sued to temporary block release of the funds because they want to give all the money back to the coporations.
- 8 mo
Everyone around the whole knows about the tariffs. As a result, the seller is gonna charge higher as a result of the tariffs. I bought 15 items once from Kroger $100. That’s not a lot to get groceries wise. Prices, rent, car sales high. I got a rouge sport a few months ago for 20k. It’s 3 years old. 31 k miles. It’s not a big vehicle. 20k is a lot for something like that. Should’ve been around 14-16k

Yet America produces more food than we consume. We are the largest exporter of food in the world. Tariffs have no effect on food produced in the USA. Why in the world would you spend your hard earned money on imported food from foreign nations that isn't even fresh and packed with preservatives when American food prices are declining? Like I said, bell peppers use to be a dollar a pop and I just picked them up for $0.25 a piece. There are many ingredients that are much cheaper these days in the USA, you just have to make home cooked meals with fresh ingredients.
Housing/Rent prices are all local. They are primarily affected by mortgage rates, local property taxes, and insurance rates, with new homes also being impacted by building material costs/fuel prices/labor costs. Interest rates are trending downward at the moment and states like Florida are dropping property taxes and working toward eliminating them completely for homesteaded property. Construction prices are a mixed bag. Lumber prices have declined, but steel prices have increased. Concrete prices that spiked drastically under the Biden administration have stabilized, but not declined. That said, there is massive development at the moment keeping demand high, but that also creates more inventory in the real estate market meaning that more housing is available. So in time that increases supply of housing leading to less competition for available homes. - 8 mo
As far as your vehicle. A crossover like that 15 years ago has an MSRP of roughly $30K new from the dealer. Today it still costs roughly $30K new from the dealer. $20K 15 years ago use to get you a new subcompact like a Toyota Corolla, Kia Forte, or Honda Civic. That's still roughly the same as well. Automobile prices on economy cars have been relatively stable for almost 2 decades in the new car market. When it comes to used cars, clearly that is based on supply and demand. There will always be a low supply of used cars when people are not financially well off. People tend to hold their vehicles for longer and repair them or buy used vehicles over new vehicles thus reducing used car inventory. So an American public that went through the COVID years with massive shut downs, lost jobs, high inflation under Biden, etc. will be strapped for cash and thus will not be parting with used cars as easily for the foreseeable future. Most people will drive their car until it is dead.
