I won't slam you with the obvious "because ai video generating tools exist." Speaking of which, at this point, audio fakes are easier to distinguish from some fake videos. I sometimes only tell a video's fake because of how it sounds. Too crisp and uniform.

So, you ask how come we've reached this point. There's no benefit to humanity from ai videos, correct? So then the main motivator of its creators is profit. Greed. Of course. It'd still be the case even if ai videos were good for humanity. ㅤ

There is none except to find out if it could be done.

In short, it something can exist, it will exist. So, since the physical universe doesn't prevent the existence of AI videos, somebody was bound to create them.

Yes. Yes it is. And, as usual, legislation lags behind technology.

Basically, we as a society (and I will be dead by then) have to come to some sort of making lying illegal - or at least a warning that something is fabricated and not true. This may run up against the First Amendment though... So, there may need to be another amendment curtailing the First Amendment somewhat or the US Supreme Court will need to interpret that certain lying - like in politics and advertising - is permissible to a point, but that other forms of communication which are lying are outright fraud not covered under the First Amendment. There would be a lot of Supreme Court cases on this. You will likely see it in your lifetime.

Eventually, they will be used to lie, trick, and ultimately, control people. We won't know what the truth is.

What I really want to know is why "Everybody Loves Raymond" exists.

Because it's a good show based on the truth of marriage. Many of the episodes are based on real events that happened to the writers.

For example, star Ray Romano and producer Phil Rosenthal wrote the episode "She's The One" in which Ray Barone's brother, Robert, starts dating Angela, a beautiful and wonderful young lady. He's thinking "She's the one" he's going to marry. Ray and his wife Debra invite Robert and Angela to dinner at their home. During the dinner, a fly lands on the table. Angela kills it. When she thinks no one is looking because they are all in the kitchen cleaning up from dinner, Angela EATS the dead fly. Ray sees it though! He tries to hint to Robert that she might not be the one. Robert disbelieves him... as do other family members when Ray mentions this. Robert takes Angela back to her home in Massapequa (about 20 minutes from Lynbrook where Everybody Loves Raymond takes place). She hints for him to stay and that they're going to have sex. However, Robert soon discovers she is obsessed with frogs. He ultimately escapes from her second floor window while it's raining. He's hanging from the windowsill and she says "We all come from frogs." implicitly defending herself. When Robert gets home and is completely soaked, he says Raymond was right all along and that Angela is "The Frog Woman of Massapequa".

Now, this episode - one of the most famous because of the hilarious absurdity of the story - is actually based on a real event. Ray Romano's real brother DID date a woman who was obsessed with snakes and the occult and, when he found out, he escaped through the window too.
