yes. I recall before the law was put in place, some idiot didn't want to wait and went around the bus, killing a kid or two. happened more than once.

sadly, have to have laws to manage selfishness. All laws come down to do what is right, safety, consider others lives.

You have to stop for the children, not the bus. Buses are only allowed to use their pick up and drop off signaling when kids are getting on and off. You’re not required by law to extend right of way beyond what you would for any other vehicle if those signals aren’t illuminated.

It is not a big deal, either way because rarely are you behind or approaching a school that is stopped to allow children to get on or get off.

Traffic rules exist for a reason. Everything from speed limits on certain roads to stopping for buses.

Absobuttfuckinglutely!!! Kids getting off the bus will sometimes dash across the street without thinking and risk getting hit with a car if it wasn't the law!
