Even with a Democrat president and Democrat control of both chambers of Congress, it failed the first time. Even when forced for another vote, with massive arm twisting, threats and bribes, not all Democrats were on board. That's because it was bad legislation.

If you think insurance companies have no reason to exist, then why are you apparently supporting Obamacare? You do realize that Obamacare REQUIRED people to buy insurance if they didn't already have it. You can't have it both ways.

Why did the Democrats vote against Obamacare if it was such great legislation? You ask about health care costs. Obamacare barely touched on health care costs. It caused insurance costs to skyrocket.

Health care reform started becoming a big political issue back in the 80s. It was mostly about health care costs. But it went off in a completely different direction. By the time Obamacare went through it, had almost nothing to do with health care costs.

I do realize that, and I know why. It's the same reason that you are required to buy car insurance if you drive a car. But of course, you leave out the pertinent details, because that's what you do, since you don't have a fucking clue.

* The purpose was to get as many people as possible enrolled to cost share; that's how insurance works, cdf.
* IF you couldn't afford premiums, you got subsidized to the point where they were minimal or even free, cdf.
* EVERY major insurer offered a plan, cdf
* Virtually EVERY single doctor in the USA participates in plans, most of them in all the major plans, cdf
* If you poor "enough", you were already on Medicaid, cdf

So to NOT have any coverage at all either through your work or the exchange, or private if you could afford it, means you were a "clueless dumb fuck". (Look in mirror)

Was it perfect? Of course not. Did it a lot of work? Of course it did. Did the Repubes want to work on it? No. Did they have anything better? NO. Did they SAY they had something better? YES, they've been saying that for the last 50 years. Are they lying? YES, cdf.

Obamacare had dead zones for coverage that hurt people between 50 and 65 who did not have insurance through their employer. This was known, and the idea was to fix that. Obamacare was a start. But, as usual, your ilk just rejected it, offered NOTHING BETTER, and just shot off their cdf mouths as they always do about health care. WHY? Because they don't give a shit.

There's a typo: Did it need a lot of work? YES. Obamacare was strictly the Exchange portion; it was just a PART of the Affordable Care Act. The ACA was very MUCH about cost containment, for example, extending coverage on kids till age 26. But the irony is that by eliminating certain individual mandates, the people who do NOT enroll are the young and healthy, driving the cost of caring for the elderly even higher.

I'm not going to waste time and words going over the pilots the ACA attempted that worked or didn't work. The point, you clueless Repubes have ZERO to offer, and won't work to fix what's there, which does work for millions of Americans. That's why the R's have ALWAYS sucked ass when it comes to health care. They're cdf's.

@loveslongnails The company i work form pays 85% of it as a part of my compensation. If I got my health insurance elsewhere IU would expect to be paid more money instead.
