He’s Latino and many of these illegal aliens are Latinos so I don’t see why he would be shocked. I’m an American and I’ve been detained by the police during the commission of their duties. They didn’t act unprofessional or aggressive, Nor did they call me any kind of racial slurs. When they found out that I wasn’t breaking law and they were apologetic and let me go on my way.

@msc545 i’ve been black all my life and I live in Los Angeles, and the police have never put hands on me. In most cases, they’ve been pretty respectful.

I have been pulled over for seemingly no reason and it’s probably because I am black so racial profiling is real. This is clearly not right but in most cases. They leave me alone as soon as I see I’m not a criminal or a troublemaker.

I used to get more upset about this because they’re picking on me based on the way I look. There is the fact that there are a bunch of criminals in my area that look just like me who need to be dealt with..

If you've been pulled over by the LAPD, I'm not surprised that you have not been mistreated as the LAPD tends to be fairly professional. However, if it was the LA County Sheriff's Department and you were not mistreated, I am very surprised as they tend to be quite unprofessional.

Acting like these cops. Don’t go too far in many cases, but generally if you deal with them, calmly things don’t escalate

I've had a few police contacts myself, and you're not wrong in saying that if you interact with them appropriately and calmly, they respond appropriately and calmly back. Not everybody can do that. I think it's fortunate that you and I can. But for those people who can't, the professional response by any police officer is to remain calm and appropriate no matter what's going on and try to de-escalate the situation. We don't need the escalation that other people do.

I think these guys could benefit from better and longer training, but this narrative that the police are a bunch of racist and they just wanna kill Black people is incorrect because many times in these high profile cases the cops are doing what they’re supposed to be doing.

No. I've been detained by police and ICE myself. Part of solving crimes or suspected is questioning citizens, its an inconvenience yes but very necessary. The only people that have a problem with that are some Americans. But then some of the scenes you see in wallmart, McDonald's, KFC are crazy.
