How is Bad Bunny performing in Spanish "anti-American"?

It's not anti American. All kinds of languages are spoken here, it's just a lot of Americans, who don't speak another language, selfishly believe others should conform to them rather than just be who they are. Those kinds of people do the same thing when they visit other countries which is completely asinine. They are just xenophobic and are idiots. It's best to just ignore their whiny behavior.
Not bad at all. Being that we have more Spanish speakers in US than in Spain, sounds like Spanish is as American as Carne Asada. Not a big deal. It was a fu*king song or two. This is not an issue. This is not an affront to the US. Like it or not. Him singing in Spanish doesn’t threaten white, christian, MAGATARDS as much as they say it does.
@Tamera952 what does religion have to do with it? Hispanics in USA are at a significantly higher rate more likely to be christian than whites.
So, are you just bigoted against white christians or what?

It's not anti-American. Bad Bunny is a resident of Puerto Rico, a US territory, which makes him American.
The fact that he sang completely in Spanish with no translation during the broadcast means that most people could not understand him. They could enjoy the salsa rhythm but not the lyrics and that is disappointing.
At the end of the performance, where all the flags appeared, it was disappointing (to some, disgusting) that the US flag was relegated to the middle of the pack, with the Puerto Rican flag leading the way. A true American would have put the US flag at the front.
The insistence on making the whole performance centered around Spanish speaking countries that are not the US is what makes it anti-American.
It’s not the language itself
Many Spanish songs are absolute bangers
But the man substituted any musical talent with a controversial agenda
At no point are we taking about lyrics, melody, or flow.
Because it was by design a political protest and not a concert.
And honestly he has a good stage presence but he couldn’t sing on key to save his own life
Hardly a world class singer
I wouldn’t call anti-American as much as it’s disrespectful to the fans. The NFL fan base is 77% white and the rest of that hundred percent is comprised mostly non-Spanish speakers so why would you do a halftime show in Spanish? To be woke.
Why wouldn’t you just do a show that caters to your fan base?

It helps to be able to understand what people are saying sometimes.
It's not. Bad Bunny IS anti American. This is why nobody had a problem with Shakira or other Spanish artists performing. No problem with people that aren't American. The problem is Bad Bunny and the content of his character. Most people with reasonable IQ understand this
It's not anti American but it is rude. Spanish may be Americas second language but millions aren't fluid and so its disrespectful to perform entirely in one language.
Speaking or performing in "another" language is NOT "rude" or "disrespectful." As you may be noticing more and more US big businesses are buying tv commercial and ad time ALL in Spanish across every market in the US. There's a reason for that! It indicates the changing demographics of the country. US Latino GDP was $4.1 trillion in 2023 (still climbing)... The fact of the matter is that many Americans are threatened by these changes. English speaking Americans have gotten used to being catered to when traveling to other countries where English is spoken to make them feel more comfortable. Again, the main factor is economics, not culture. In theory, since the US is the "melting pot" of the world, children should be required to speak a language other than English. Spanish is the choice that makes sense (right now). Mastering another language is common in many other countries. We are lagging way, way behind. With Google Translate and other AI tools, we can close some of the gap. The truth is that we live in a global society... whether we like it or not. Welcome to the 21st century!
If American is bilingual nation then both languages need official status and protection. This includes catering for the needs of both speakers
Despite common belief, English is not the official language of the US. Truth is the US is one of the exceptional countries that does NOT officially recognize any language even though it is the predominant language. Around the world, apparently 180 countries have an official language, and more than 100 countries have multiple official languages. Bolivia holds the record for the most (37 official languages including Spanish and dozens of indigenous languages). The hoopla around Bad Bunny and ICE raids has really brought out deep sensitivies regarding language and culture. People apparently have their own views about what it means to be a "real American." Thousands of Americans don't know that Bad Bunny is an American or that Puerto Rico is part of the US. I find this to be sad and frightening at the same time.
Americans have gotten exponentially dumber since 1993 !!!
