Dear Americans, which place is nicer, Charlotte NC or Boston MA?

In spite of the current regime in power in USA, I am in process of looking for a new job. The on I am in is OK but admin and other issues with the place (commercialisation of an essential service to communities doesn't work for those employed in it) so opportunities opening in US have intrigued me a little as the packages offered are pretty good but I don't know much about what it's like living as a straight white European in those places. In one interview the notion of "Banjo country" was mentioned in NC which I am not sure whether it refers to the sort of place where Southern Comfort (1981) movie is based. I doubt it is this way as I have served with US troops and found them to be no different to most free thinking Europeans.

So come Americans sell me the place whether in Historical Boston or Charming Charlotte.

So if it were me I'd go to Charlotte for the climate alone. The Carolinas also have booming economies due to their tax incentives and investment platform. I'm sure it would be an ideal market to search for a job. However I just had a friend move to Boston from Buffalo towards the end of last year. Her fiancé got a big job he couldn't refuse. All I can say is that she absolutely loves it there. Her work is remote so she can be anywhere for her job (originally NYC). She loves the city and how much there is to do. Not so much the weather. They live just outside Boston (20 minutes to city center) north of the city. She says the north parts and Back Bay area are the best but naturally more expensive. I've been to Charlotte a couple of times and the area is super nice and hard to pass up mild winters.

I've never been to Boston but I've heard how harsh their winters can be so I choose Charlotte as I've been there many times and the winters aren't harsh at all.

Thanks, I lived and liked Sweden so cold winters aren't too tough though I like motorcycling so that's a factor

North Carolina by miles. Boston is a sh*thole. I was looking at Durham though. They’re both college towns, which generally bodes well for economy and culture. However, Durham is smaller. It’s also almost perfectly equidistant between the mountains and the coast. So on any given weekend you can go to the ocean or the mountains. Raleigh is nearby if you want to do the big city nonsense.
Of course, that was over thirty years ago. Things have probably changed over those decades.
In short though, if North Carolina is an option, i wouldn’t even look at Boston. There are nice parts of Massachusetts, but Boston is a friggin’ toilet. Ell oh ell!

I've never heard of that place but did go canoeing in the Gulf of Mexico when I visited Florida. NC Charlotte seems to be where folk believe the climate is warmer

I have never been to Charlotte but Boston is a shithole. It has to be an improvement.
