I was at a pizzeria and I'm looking at the menu, they have calzones but the spinach and cheese one has no meat... So I'm like hey are these calzones made to order?
Yes
What do you think about putting sausage in there?
The guy is like "I dunno, I'm not gonna tell you what you like "
Now if there's one easy way to make me not respect you as a restaurant owner, it's give me that answer.
"Friend" I said "I'm not asking you if I like it, I'm asking if you think the sausage you sell here might go well with the calzone I'm asking for, what kind of sausage is it?"
He's looking at me as if this isn't a totally normal question and goes "how do i know? I can put the sausage in or not."
I said alright, the way you're shrugging and walking around the question is making me concerned about the sausage, I'm just gonna get the calzone with ham, I can see your ham over the counter, it looks like good ham. 😂
"you sure"
"well I'm asking you to tell me more about your sausage and it's like I hit some kind of soft spot, I detecting it might be an emotional topic, maybe I'll try the sausage next time. "
This guys like I'm not emotional, you're emotional. I only get emotional about my son and my daughter!
And I just look at his workers who have these terrified looks on their face and go "Working for this guy must be a blast" and as we're watching the poor guy make me a really good calzone, me and the owner are arguing. I'm putting money in the tip jar through the conversation because I could tell it was pissing the owner off.
And then another guy walked in and asked the same question as me!
I left a review that said "had a great calzone here, make sure you ask about the sausage"
