It is easy to reach the top but it's challenging to stay there. Agree or Disagree?

It is not easy to get to the top at all. I can't think of a single thing where you don't need overwhelming talent, shit tons of effort, and put a slot of time into it to get to the top. Staying at the top is easier. Because once you reach a certain level, you can easily affect those below you and usually have experience and resources to keep you there. Look at all the richest people in the world. Look at all the best people in their fields in the world. Once they get there, they're there to stay and only age and health affects how long they stay there.

Nah, it's not easy to reach the top and it's not easy to stay there. It takes a certain personality. That personality is often severely flawed and not necessarily benevolent. Often they are self centered to the point of being evil.

And being "at the top" puts you in a spotlight. It can make you a target. I've always been more comfortable remaining anonymous and operating from the shadows. It gives me a lot more freedom and some amount of protection.

Disagree. If you are genuinely "at the top", then you control what happens to you.

For instance, sports teams who are "at the top" by winning championships aren't really at the top because those actually at the top - the Board of Governors of the league - force teams to compete the next year to determine a new champion. The Board of Governors can do whatever they want - for instance, change the rules, change the schedule, ... whatever they want so that, from a bottom line perspective, things are best for them. The Board of Governors has no one telling them what to do and they have no problem whatsoever "staying at the top".

I'm going to disagree. You've probably never been top 100 at anything in the world, even if you think you have. People who are top 100 in the world at anything, other than video games, get paid a half million dollars per year to do it, if not more than that. IN fact, some video game players get paid a half million dollars to be top 100 in the world.

From that perspective, we're all FOOLS for trying to keep full-time jobs while people get paid obscene salaries to play stick and ball games and video games.

I think the problem is while at one time people reached the top by gaining experience and respect today there's a tendency to play the system. People don't try to master their jobs, instead they look at what's needed to get to the next step. As a result you get people climbing quickly to the top who have ticked all the boxes but can't actually do the job.

I would never say it's easy to get to the top, but it's definitely easier than staying on top.

When you are on top, everyone else challenges you to replace you, knock you off the top. Compare that to when you are climbing, where everyone else is working for the same goal as you.

In many areas, career, sports, business, even social status, it can be relatively easier to reach a peak through talent, opportunity, timing, or short-term effort. But staying there is harder because it requires consistency over time.

But once a person finally makes it there, it wouldn't be that hard to stay there because you would have a staff to delegate to and they would help you stay there.

Depends on the field. In sport it is a certainty the person who reaches the top will be dethroned.

Gates, Bezos, Musk etc have to do something pretty stupid to stop being in the top tier of wealth.
