They often support groups that go against their claimed values.

Feminism, yet support Islamic forces that subjugate women

Pro gay, yet support groups that murder them, think "queers for palestine" who's more Pro gay, Israel or Hamas?

Anti authoritarian, yet show support for Maduro, Khamenei, Mossadegh, Stalin, Mao etc.

Care about climate change, yet openly support China?

The list is endless

It's truly bizarre. The only explanation I have is that Marxist principles applied to social issues forces them to be anti western.

This creates alliances that look contradictory from the outside.
