I'm watching a documentary on Syria, that was filmed a few years before the revolution, I wanna cry😥

I can understand why that would hit you emotionally. 😥 Watching footage of Syria before the revolution can feel strange because you're seeing ordinary people living completely normal lives, knowing what was coming later.

I wouldn't personally reduce it to simply “missing Assad,” though. People can miss the Syria they remember before the war without necessarily supporting everything Assad's government did. Those are two different feelings.

There were people who genuinely felt life was more stable before the uprising, while others experienced repression and had very different memories of that period. Syria's history under Assad is complicated, and nostalgia can sometimes make us forget the parts that weren't visible in a documentary about everyday life.

Sometimes what makes old footage so heartbreaking isn't the politics at all. It's seeing people laughing, shopping, going to school, walking through streets and making plans for the future, completely unaware of how much their country was going to change. That's the part that gets me. 😥❤️

😂 Anyone missing this freak has to be joking. He slaughtered his own people. If there are millions of Syrian refugees in Europe today, it's literally because of this monster. On top of that, he was an absolute idiot who was totally out of touch with his own people.

Assad & his government were being touted as a great thing and calling for investment in syria by American companies. Then he side with Russia and turned down an oil/gas pipeline from oman to Europe, a month later the arab spring happened

I believe he would probably be put to death if the Russian government did hand him over. I heard he lives in Russia now and the Russian government refused to hand him over after the new Syrian president asked for him to be brought back to Syria to be punished for his crimes.
