What country do you first associate with an Asian person when you have not seen the person yet, but have heard that he/she is Asian?

I don’t, really. I guess locally, if someone said “some Asian guy” or something, the likelihood here would be Chinese or Vietnamese. That’s probably who we have the highest populations of, and they both have distinct enclaves in a few places.

But if you just randomly told me “Asian person”, with no further information, I don’t think I would just have a default nationality (assuming you’re meaning an ethnicity) that I thought of. Way too broad of a descriptor. That’s like telling me someone is European. I’d guess they were white (in this particular context of being called European by what I think you’re meaning about someone being called Asian); but I don’t know if they’re gonna look Irish, or Swedish, or Italian, or Spanish, or Greek, for however much I can on-sight identify anyone.
