Does anyone else hate working in a restaurant?

I'm a waitress and I honestly hate my job. I'm also a student so I definitely need it, but god do customers/coworkers piss me off with there bs. leaving me 5$ on a 70$ is crap, especially after I grabbed your fat ass extra sauces and 7 refills.

When my fiance and I go out to dinner, the max I'll tip is $5. But our tab is never more than like $30 or $35.

I have never been a waitress, but I did work at a fast food place, and I hated it. Besides the fact that my boss was a jerk, you also have to deal with customers that are demanding jerks. That's awful, so I completely feel you.

ikr. am I'm definitely giving pretty decent service so I don't know why there being such tools. but I guess that's how it goes in the lower end restaurants.

im kinda douchy to the pizza people but I can't help it. the pizza itself is like $15 and then they charged me an extra like 2-3 dollars just for the delivery. then I'm supposed to tip the dude so it ends up being like $20 for a one topping pizza..i give exact change and make them go away

But I am always very nice to the staff, more polite than I am to even my family. I'm not rich but tip well

If you hate it, get a different job. Tipping isn't mandatory, it's a favour to you. Maybe you're not a good waitress!

um I'm a good waitress. and its not a f***ing favor. I get paid 2$ that goes directly to the government. the whole point of me getting people sh*t is so they tip. its not a favor, its a service.

If you only get paid 2 dollars an hour, girl, you're working illegally. It is a favour, you chose that job. Nowhere does it say that someone HAS to tip. If you go to Europe, they don't tip. AT ALL.

well I don't know how they do things in Europe. but I can tell you that 2 -4$ is the average hourly people make as servers because everything is based on your tip. that's why 20% gratuity is added to a party of 8 or more. gratuity is kinda the point. I can tell you have never worked in a restaurant before but that's how it works. ask a server next time your in a restaurant and think about if you were in there shoes and how much it would suck.

You can't "tell" anything, not sure why you think you can. I worked in service for 2 years and bartended for 4, I know how it works. I made a standard 10 dollars an hour, no one gets paid something like 2 dollars an hour. That's ridiculous.

If you're this rude to your customers no wonder they don't tip you.

hahaha well am I getting tipped for this conversation? f*** no. so I'll be as rude as I want. and I'm sure bartenders do get paid more hourly but I highly f***ing doubt you were making 10$ an hour waiting tables unless you were at ruth chris or some sh*t. in which case way to make a career out of sucking **** lady. enjoy it.
