Ladies why do you like Peeta Mellark from the hunger games?

Ladies what is it about peeta that you all love so much I Haven't read the book or seen the movie but heard that a lot of girls like him why is that?

no joke, I think more people, specially NICE GUYS should read THG and pay attention to Peeta, Gales is the cool guy, almost bad boy, kind of "sexy and I know it" kind of boy, while Peeta is ALMOST the typical nicey nice guy who secretely loves the girl until he finally confesses and she, like ofthen happens to nice guys, consider his kindness to be weakness, and his love to be neediness, which is the main problem that make nice guys be considered wussies, and then, when the girl looses respect and don't consider them MALES, they fall in the friend zone.

again, Peeta is a NICE guy, kind of cheesy, kind of shy, and truly an "I would die for you# kind of boy who all girls say they want but in real life they don't like at all, with one BIG difference, he WAS, IS and REMAINS a nice guy BUT, while shy, he is determinated and brave (to the point of joining the BAD guys knowing they are using him and WILL kill him, just to protect the girl), he is confident, despite the fact that she at some points lose respect of him he always CHARM the audience and not by putting up an act, but by being honest and optimistic, also, like many nice guys he LIVES for the girl, but unlike most of them he also won't take sh?t from her or from anyone else, so she ends up always having, AT THE VERY LEAST, respect for him which again, is the main problems with guys in the friend zone, they allow the girl to treat them like garbage, and their sweetness becomes pathetic-ness, and well, nice guys, another BIG problem is that are often felt manipulative and fake, sounds familiar?:

sure I will buy drinks for your friends too

as your friend I advice you to not date that bad boy, you deserve someone nice (MEEEEEEEEE! pick ME!)

like they are not themselves, is OK to be nice, but only if it comes from your heart, in honesty, but some will say anything the girl wants to hear because they are DESPERATE for her to notice, to love him.

women will never like the "date me or I will jump off the bridge" kind of guy, Peeta is the "I will die for you" kind of guy, NOT in words, he stuck by his words and prove it, but also, to be like "I will die to protect you even if you don't love me, I will die because you are everything for me, no bargains, I do it because I DECIDE IT and I am man enough to back up my words and choices" is VERY different than "I would say and do whatever but I'm begging for you to repay me with the love I so desperately NEED", in short, is not the same "I will do anything to see you happy" than "I will do anything to recibe your love".

Peeta is a nice guy, but a nice guy that does not finish last, if only one thing you get of THG trilogy is a very good example and explanation of how girls say they want a nice guy but friend zone him and go for the bad boy, is NOTcause girls are crazy or don't make sense, is cause the concept of NICE guy in their minds is different from the one in ours, Peeta is a GREAT example of the IDEAL nice guy

I NEVER liked Peeta. He was always too weak for me. Yes, it's very sweet how much he loves Katniss, but to the point where his entire existence is Katniss. He doesn't live separate from her. The only time I really liked him very much was in the first book, when he talked about how afraid he was of dying a slave - that was true Peeta coming out. That was him as a human being, living in and of himself.

I always liked Gale. Sure, he was too fiery and didn't think, but he was independent. He loved Katniss and he'd do almost anything for her, but he could live without her if he had to. Other people, like his and her families, mattered to him. He had a purpose in life.

I like him XP. Most likely because he is "hot" and "cute" as we say. His appearances just seem to be attractive, I guess. Also, the book and movie are pretty popular, so a lot of girls have read, heard, or watched the Hunger Games, which kind of brings them to liking some specific boy or whatever. And in that case, Most of us like Peeta. I know this answer is seriously crappy and all, but you know, newbies like me, are, (ahem) new.

I've never seen the movie or read the books but I'm familiar with the actor. I think it's the Edward twilight syndrome. Both guys aren't really the hottest guys I've seen, but I'm just going to guess that in the movies they were portrayed as some sort of "perfect guy". You know that typical nice guy character that every chick flick has. He says sweet things, possibly saves the girl's life once or twice, does something romantic, all that stuff.

I like the Hunger Games but Peeta was really never my type.  However, I do like him a lot.  I think it's because he's undeniably good.  He always wants to do what's right.  And though they show this in the book more than the movie, he's very clever.  He orchestrated the whole plan to pretend to be in love so they could get sponsors.

His passion and the will to do whatever it takes, and then on the other side his strenght and cleverness. He understands the game, so he plans everything, but he is also always puting Katniss on the first place. And the fact that he is good looking is a bonus. ;)

I love the Hunger Games, and he is one of my favorite characters, you really need to at least watch the movie! :D

Because he loves Katniss even if she doesn´t love him back. Gale was just so sure that he would get her, he never did anything to show his feelings towards her he just assumed that she would end up with her. Peeta worked to be with her, he gave her space and showed his feelings towards her letting her make the choice on her own.

His passion and desire for Katniss.  He watched her from afar and always liked her :), I guess kind of like Edward from Twilight :p It's just so much more romantic than the other choice (which she clearly friend zoned).

I liked him before I ever saw the movie, so for me it's not about looks at all. It's about personality. He is a good guy, and he always takes care of Katniss. He's loyal. He's dependable. Those are very desirable qualities.
