My students seemed to like Ronaldo. I couldn't care less about football (for whatever reason we call it soccer in the states). I had a lot of Korean students, one of whom went on to become a pro footballer himself. Koreans seem to like football.

Indeed and soccer is very famous here in Europe and in most of the countries of South America and Africa. Oh you were a teacher in what subject, and at the university?

I taught 4 and 5 grades (ages 9 to 11), so I was an elementary school teacher. I taught math, language arts (reading and writing), science and history. 4th grade history was about the history of the state of California (missions and the Gold Rush). 5th grade history was about American history, from prehistoric times (the migration of Native Americans across the Bering land bridge/sea all the way to the foundation of the United States)

My Korean and South American students were all mystified by the American apathy about football. I'm aware the rest of the world generally *loves* football. My father was English, so his family was seriously into football. My father played it in a club. Americans just don't seem to care. There was a lot of excitement when Beckham came to play for my hometown of Los Angeles, but that soon went away.

I'm a hockey fan. I kinda like baseball. American football bores me. Basketball just doesn't do it for me. Tennis? Meh. Not for me.

I wish more combat sports were popular. America enjoys boxing... and nothing else. Sometimes UFC.
