Why do people make this comparison when sue bird isn’t even close to king James in talent?

I have to make some assumptions. I’m assuming Sue Bird plays bassetball, like LJ. I’m also assuming people are saying she’s “the best” or “the GOAT”, or the like. If these are not the case, feel free to scroll to the next comment. Cuz my response will be based entirely on these assumptions. Ell oh ell!
Everything is subjective. SB doesn’t have to be as good as LJ in order to garner similar esteem. She just needs to be the best within her margins. Is she typically outperforming her peers the way LJ typically outperforms his? Is she being compared to a previous otherwise objectively great athlete, i. e. LJ vs Michael Jordan?
I don’t follow bassetball even a little, so i can’t and won’t argue skill sets. However, the comparison is otherwise fair of some of the above apply. Debates about GOATs are interesting because it’s difficult to quantify certain factors. Promoters have taken to calling this the “X factor”. Statistics don’t lie though. And it’s not reasonable to compare her stats to his directly. You have to compare her stats to her margins and his stats to his margins. Then compare and contrast those results.

She's been as dominant in her sport as LeBron has been in his. The WNBA doesn't have the amount of scoring that NBA games have and she's a point guard not a power forward so scoring is not her primary job but she runs the court and quarterbacks her team as good if not better than anyone in that league ever has.

The reason the pay is different is no one is ever going to pay $1500 to sit front row at a WNBA game. But that doesn't take away from how good she is. Let little girls have their heroes too. Your ego will survive.

Unless LeBron has 2 other superstars alongside him, he hasn't been able to do shit. His stats will look great but his teams lose in the first round of the playoffs if they make them at all. Whereas wherever Sue Bird has played, she's been a winner. NCAA championships, WNBA, European Leagues, Russian leagues, all championships she led them to.
