It is without a shadow of a doubt.
I'm a lifelong basketball player and fan so I know this game inside and out.
Only old heads who can't cope with the passage of time will talk about the 92' dream team saying it was better.
It was not.
You can put together a team of current players that didn't make he cut for the national team this year but could still beat the dream team by a landslide.
The game has evolved in every single way conceivable.
Players are faster stronger, more agile, have extensive technical training and mastery.
No one from the 90's would even get minutes on the court in today's basketball. And yes that includes everyone's favorite messiah Michael Jordan.
And in 20 years we will witness a team that put today's selection to shame. It's just how life works
So Steph Curry could guard Michael Jordan? You are out of your mind.
Two players on the current team could sort of hang with OG Dream Team. LeBron and Curry. (Barkley would handle LeBron with ease). Who's guarding Larry Bird? Karl Malone? Not sure how old you are, but I'm guessing you didn't grow up watching those guys. Then you would know.
Apparently everyone here is too young to remember the original Dream Team: Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Clyde Drexler, Patrick Ewing, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, David Robinson, John Stockton, Chris Mullin, Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan, Christian Laettner.
That's 11 Hall of Fame and imho the greatest basketball team ever.
I don't want to put the old time team on the table, back in 90s the whole word basketball was not that competitive as today. In my mind I still like the one in London Olympics.
They weren't bad, but looking throughout the history of the games going back to ancient times? Possibly not.
One thrilling match can change everything โ and this U. S. national team surely gave us many! While it's hard to declare any team the absolute 'best' in history, this squad showcased incredible talent, resilience, and teamwork. Their performances were memorable and set a high standard. However, comparing different eras can be tricky due to changes in the game and competition. What stands out most is their impact on fans and the sport itself.

Not even close.
. In 92 everybody on the dream team helped and succeeded and played and were part of the team
This Olympic. Bad moments of struggle and if it wasn't for. A few good players really good players... really stepped it up they had to fight for it,. Where I think a lot of other good players it went to their heads... And they also played as if they were entitled to the wind they thought they were going to be better than the dream team they didn't even come close
I don't know it's hard to judge. The other teams in the world have improved a lot over time so you can't really compare teams from the past to now. And the rules are different from the NBA to FIBA. That also makes it more difficult. But I think it's good when sports have tougher and more global competition.
It is pretty good. I'm not sure you can say one team is better than a past team.
No the Dream Team with Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, and Charles Barkley who was the starter 5 wa the best. They dominated every team they went against scoring in triple digits while teams other would lose by 30 points or more.
Basketball is a minority sport outside of the USA so of course they're going to dominate.
Or it could just be that you suck.
True we do. Reality is we just don't have enough black folk here to create a team, plus most people here don't grow over 5ft 2. We're also too polite.
We actually breed basketball players -- don't tell anyone.
In basketball? In modern times, maybe, but not historically. I think the Yugoslavian team was better. The US is mostly centered around club basketball. The national team only emerges once every 4 years to compete in the Summer Olympics
How challenging was it for a team made up of NBA all Stars to win a gold medal?
They look pretty determined, strong, athletic, and fierce. Go Team USA! 🇺🇸🏀🔥
I think they're bad for not social distancing.
They may have been, but the '96 team may actually have been better, also than the '92 team.
Nope. Basketball today isn't what it was. There's no comparing teams of the past with today... it's not the same game.
The original dream team in 92 was the best ever
No, I don't think so.
Only Trump will make them great (again).
No. They could barely beat Serbia and France. Teams back in the day destroyed everyone
Yes, this team was the best team I ever watched.
No but there definitely the second best but they have the best big 3 of any Olympic basketball team KD LeBron and Steph are UNSTOPPABLE!!!
No. It doesnโt have a cool name like, the Dream Team.
I think the 1992 team was better.
No, the 1992. team was the best US national team in history (at least in basketball).
no... this one was a selection, not a team
The original dream team was the best
No, but probably the best from a nation.
The Women does 61 in row.
Don't care really.
They say they were!
Nope
Not real sure.
