Could Michael Jordan and the Bulls have won 8 championships? 10 Maybe?

Of course, there are no guarantees, but...

For people who are not old enough to remember Jordan playing Live, Statistically on a per-game basis Michael Jordan was either equally good to LeBron or else significantly better than LeBron James in every individual stat.

If Jordan never retired in 1993, the Bulls had a strong shot at winning in 1994 and 1995 too. They still won 55 games without him in 1994, and with MJ in peak form they’d likely edge past the Knicks and Rockets at least once, maybe twice.

But 8 straight titles is brutally hard physically and mentally. By 1999–2000 the team was aging, the roster would’ve changed, and the NBA competition (Shaq–Kobe Lakers, Duncan’s Spurs) was too strong.

So, 6 actual + 1–2 plausible = 7–8 total. His per‑game stats and dominance absolutely support that kind of upside, especially given he never even played a Game 7 in the Finals. 💪

Hard to say. Because if Mike doesn't retire that means the Bulls wouldn't have fired Phil Jackson. And Krause told him before the 97-98 season that he was done even if the Bulls went 82-0. So there was NO CHANCE Phil was staying without a Reinsdorf intervention (and Reinsdorf doesn't really care much about winning).

The 99 season being shortened would have played into the Bulls favor with their veteran age. No one would have beat the Bulls in the east so another finals birth would've been a lock. But the Bulls match up with the Spurs front court would've been interesting. Rodman would have extra motivation to stick it to the Spurs. And the Spurs inexperienced front court would get picked apart by the Bulls doberman defense. I think the Bulls would've won it in 5.

After that it gets kind of hard to predict because while the Bulls make to the finals again in 2000. Do the Lakers? They don't have Phil, the Bulls do (not to mention Ron Harper, John Salley i couldn't say). And I'm not sure Shaq and Kobe put their ego in check enough for any other coach that wasn't already under contract (i. e. Pat Riley) long enough to make that deep of a run. I think the Lakers would eventually get there though. Maybe not 3 peat but I think they'd have won 1 if not 2 at some point. But I'm not sure that L. A. get past the kings in the first round, or past Portland that year. That Portland team was DEEP.

So I think the Bulls would've definitely won 1 more. 2 depends on the Lakers cohesiveness and that's if they even made the finals. Beyond that it'd depend on what the NBA put up against them.

I can say this. I would like to have seen a Portland team in 2000 with Scottie Pippen matching up against a Micheal Jordan led Bulls. But again, this goes back to is Scottie still a Bull?

Like or hate the Lakers you had to respect the Lakers front office's commitment to putting the pieces together to win.
