I recently checked out a new gym $200 a month with no walk ins.
Meanwhile, the local gym I usually go to charges only $18 a month or $6 per walk in. The service it's their specialty.
It got me thinking about how some gyms feel more community driven, where it's not just about business profit, but also about the people, the passion, and the love for the sport.
Sad to see some Gym's are only for business gain.
Do wholesome gyms still exist in your area or are they becoming rare?
It's a gem to be at a classic wholesome gym, usually the owner would be the kind who has the forte and it goes across for those who understand this. From one to another.
Yeah, they’re wholesome you get to know the owner. They’re always there and they’re more hard-core serious weight training going on not swimming pools and all these little yoga classes and bicycle classes and too many machines. Plus they even have a basketball court. It’s too much.

I guess there are pretentious boutique types gyms.
I just don't see the point in them. I did a virtual tour of one and it didn't have what I needed. Namely, some gymnastic rings.
Pullups, dips, weighted pushups, inverted rows, squats and lunges at home. It's pretty much all you need.
I'd do deadlifts too, if my knees didn't hate them.
Did you manage to find a decent place?
as you just described them... yep, we got a few in the area
we even have one that combines both... just different entrances and parking lot, lol
There used to a lot like paradise gym, Iron Man gym not much anymore. Its a huge big companyy like LA fitness and planet fitness

Company Gym's are the worst.

Usually the laid back Gym's are the good ones but of course it goes with checking first also.
Best to go for wholesome Gyms but it's a hole in the wall mostly not a fad Gym.
The wholesome gyms with private owners are the best I’ve gone to them, but they don’t have them where I live in Miami hardly anymore
Tsk, how far do you have to travel?
It takes me 15 to 20 minutes to get to the big company major gym LA fitness the one that I like I don’t see any mom And pop gyms around
Planet Fitness is about the only real place left that isn't out to rake you over the coals for money
I use the campus athletic center.
Make the most of it.
Out there most are ridiculous.
But you will still find a gem, a hole in the wall. You just have to know where to find it at least.
I don't even know what a wholesome gym is
Rare so much
