Was Proxy Blue the answer to the media paranoia of her time? Proxy was such an underutilized character. There was even an episode that focused on her, but we learned nothing about where she came from. Is she an AI or an avatar? And either way, who programmed her? Mutant X and the GSA both hack her systems for info on New Mutants but Adam and Mason regard her as a nuisance. I don’t think I’ve seen this idea explored even in fan fiction.
I think that you can find much of Proxy's inspirational Genesis in a couple episodes of Sci-factor, where a supposedly potential extraterrestrial-spector-supernatural conspiracy fact intelegance possessing a guy with no identity of his own exposed government and corporate plots against the people with specific detailed information on who, what, how, and when, these illegal activities will take place, who sponsors them, where their contacts are, etc. It's like a ghost possessing someone in Poltergeist, except the information comming from the evil spirits is accurate, actionable material evidence incriminating the world's most powerful government officials and corporate CEO's before they have the chance to actually do the deed. You never really know who the source of the information originally comes from, who is facilitating it's distribution, or why they are doing it, except that they want too stick it too the MANN, before people lose their lives. My take on Proxy Blue, is that once you know the answers too your questions, she ceaces too be an effective source of information.
