What did you do on break and lunch at work or at school before cell phones?

Just about everyone has a cell phone now and is on it during breaks / lunches at work or school

I have NO idea? I have never lived in a world where cell phones were not ubiquitous?
I would imagine that it was a world where people were a LOT more patient! That people did not mind waiting an hour or two or more to tell someone whatever it was they wanted to tell them? I would also imagine that it was a world with a LOT fewer misunderstandings because everything was said face-to-face, so you can see their body language and hear the tonal inflections of their voice. That is completely lacking in modern text messaging.

I had a phone lol but I would be pen writing stories or reading novels/story-books offline on my phone (so we can pretend I had a kindle or hardcopy)..

Sometimes (in higher forms) I took a walk with my close friends and sat on the bench outside under a tree, talking and observing...

Sure, had a cell phone for break or lunch at school but that didn't mean we had phone service... so mostly took pictures, practiced selfies, and talked to friends.

Even now I can't get any service at home, have to use wifi for it all.

Socialized with people and pulled all sorts of harmless pranks on people with my friends that were not filmed cause phones were not allowed in the school I went to!.

When i was at school i was sleeping in classrom , lying on the gras at the garden or walking at garden
At work eating and thats all.
