Which computer brand do you consider to be the best and most reliable?

I've had it with this piece of dogsh*t Acer laptop! As I said in another question, it broke on me this week. Typing this on my work computer. For Christmas, I'm buying myself a new laptop, and making sure I can avoid Windows 10 or any other BS from Microsoft as well. I'm still not sure what operating system I can replace Windows for, since Apple and Macs are even more annoying, but I'm getting a new gaming laptop.

Which computer brand do you trust the most and consider to be the best and most reliable?

Toshiba sucks balls. Avoid it. I had two different ones when I was in university, both screens died on me within the first year. I kept the newest one as a desktop setup, but that only lasted another year, then the whole computer died.

I got a Gateway after that, which is made by Acer. It ran Windows 7 but I was able to upgrade it all the way to Windows 10 in the years that I used it. It got too slow and glitchy after about 6 years or so. Since you didn’t have a good experience with Acer products though, I won’t recommend it to you.

Right now I have a MacBook, I don’t do any gaming or video editing and such, so it can easily handle what I do with it. Watching stuff, word documents, etc. Basic things for home and work purposes. If you like Windows, go with HP or Dell. That’s what I should have gotten instead of the Toshiba, but I was being a cheap ass.

I bought an HP a few months ago. Typing on it right now. It was a good price compared to other laptops and I'm happy with it; no problems. Battery life is much better than my old 2015 Acer chromebook and it's larger with a fuller keyboard. Typing is comfortable and the screen is a good size. I mainly use it for schoolwork but it would definitely be a good streaming laptop for trips. I do have Windows 10 on it because I had to get it for school.
I really wanted the Ideapad but it doesn't have Windows 10 and is more expensive but I would have gotten it otherwise.

I have an Acer Nitro 5. Which is really easy to maintain and do everything with it, from inside out. I love it. The easy design by the engineering team for easy repair is really appreciated. I am using 2019 model and hence I have two slots under my laptop. One is for the RAM and the other one is for the HDD. That is really cool on their part.

But I voted for Lenovo as 95% of my friends have a Lenovo laptop and I also like them reducing the charging brick to size. No extra 3-pin wire is required from the socket to the charging brick. Just plugging the brick itself in the socket works.

That's the same f*cking piece of sh*t I have! I only got it in 2020, and in two years, have had to take it to computer repair shops FIVE times! The USB ports started acting up on the second day I owned it! The number pad has a glitch where it'll "cut off" after 10 minutes. It can never wake up from Sleep mode, so I can't even use that as an option. It's overall sh*t and I HATE it! I bought it during COVID lockdowns; otherwise I would've tried to return it! It is soooooo f*ckin' bad!

🤣🤣🤣 seems like you got a faulty or a used one. The USB hub of my laptop is working fine as new till this date.
No battery problem nothing.

Agreed that it does have heating issues though. I had to open up the heating chamber to manually remove the dust accumulated over 3 years of usage. The stores do not do that much of work, I believe.

I know people hate on them, but I have several ten year old Apple Macbook Pro A1278 unibodies that still run like finely tuned machines. For other major brands, I have never had issues with HP workstations or laptops. I stay away from Toshiba because every one I've had failed within a couple of months.

For laptops, I avoid off the shelf brands, and have mine custom-built to my liking from a boutique builder. Most of the brand names use the same hardware anyway. For desktops I can build my own.

All of my business machines are HP. We've had no problems with them.

I have personally had Acer, Gateway, and HP computers. I have known people with those plus Compaq and Dell. In my experience and what I have seen from others, HP seems to be the most reliable/longest lasting without problems. That is what I currently use too.

For desktop, either build your own, or go with a custom build. As for laptops, stay away from Alienware, they are overpriced pieces of crap, both MSI, Asus and Lenovo are solid choices for laptops.

Not everyone is experienced enough, or wealthy enough, to build their own machine. I hate when people say that; like it's easy to do that, or everyone knows which hardware is best.

I wasn't trying to be mean, I know not everyone is experienced enough to build their own, which is why I mentioned custom build, aka a pre-built, that's built as if you built it your self. Some of these pre-builts, can be found for a decent price at places like BestBuy. Actually it's a misconception that you need to be wealthy to build your own computer, depending on the specs/components it can be roughly the same price or a hair cheaper, but not everyone is experienced enough to build one so a pre-built with standard components are just as good. Right now (components purchased from Amazon), one can build a complete 5600g system for a little under $400. Quite a few months ago I purchased one of those pre-builts that uses standard off the shelf components, cost a little under a grand and couldn't be happier. Was all set to build my own, but at the time the GPU shortage was still going on causing graphics card prices to be 3x MSRP, so a pre-built was the only option to get a good graphics card without over paying.

The piece of crap Acer Nitro 5 I have cost $700 when I bought it in 2020. I had gotten an HP Pavilion desktop at home as an early Christmas 2019 present from a friend, but had to leave the country about a week to start a new job in Korea, so I almost never got to use it. It's still at my sister's house and I was never able to find someone to buy it off me. That cost $625.

If I were to build a laptop or PC with the same components, it would cost me $1150 to $1200, which is too much for me.

The best laptop I want right now, the Dell Flagship G15 Ryzen, currently costs $820, which is still a bit higher than I'd like, and that's not counting the extra $100 for shipping.

If it's a laptop your looking for, I wouldn't worry about building your own, as that's virtually impossible. I noticed the components you selected are from 3rd party sellers instead of Amazon, is that because what ever your are purchasing needs to be shipped to Korea? That Dell is a solid choice, but if $820 is a little too much, you can currently get a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 for $699, same graphics card, but comes with a 6600H instead of a 5600H the Dell has.

I'll probably just save up for an extra month or two and get the Dell G15 in January perhaps. I just realized all of my work laptops are Lenovo Ideapads and I don't really like them. They feel so basic and chintzy, like they shouldn't be worth more than $200. Thank you.

Dell G15 is a solid choice, if you look good enough, you can get a G15 with a 5800h for roughly the same price.

For as is. Hp is my go to... as for gaming computer... i just check the computer hardware statistics. I honestly say... build your own computer if you are gaming or doing audio editing since the build will determine on what you're doing with it
