Is there any Truth to something i was reading in the newspaper stating Facebook (meta) and Instagram will be soon charging for subscriptions?

If you are a regular old fashioned user, nothing changes for you. If you are a business or someone popular, you might have to pay to get that "Verified Account" thing similar to Twitter.

Good for them. Discourage more ad revenue from having a smaller user base. They've been getting kicked in the wallet-y bits lately, what with the mass layoffs and all that.
