What happened to YouTube music?

Is it gone? I don't see the ads of it anymore.

I used to listen to Google podcasts all the time. As of last month they said they were discontinuing it, and you needed to pay for Google music to listen to their podcasts. Why would anyone pay when there are still free podcast services? Google is getting greedy.

I bought my Dad a used computer, but he couldn't understand it.

So I bought him a small tablet with Internet access, and he couldn't understand it.

So then I bought him a Google Home.

He loved it! No buttons and nothing to learn. You just talk to it. It came with a 6 month subscription to Google Music, so he could literally ask it to play anything, and it would. But I never renewed the subscription, because I'm not going to give money to Google.

Bravo! I'm trying to figure out how to De-Google my phone. It's a bit of a process, but you can also buy them from a guy on YouTube with all of the nonstop spyware and tracking stripped out.

I've jailbroken iPhones and rooted Android phones. If I can do it, you can.

I've never tried that, is the outcome the same as what they're calling a De-Googled phone? This may be a much too technical question.

It makes you in control of what's on your phone. You're now in charge, not the phone provider I'm not suggesting it, but if I can do it, anyone can. But you run the risk of "bricking" your phone. That's never happened to me, but you need to know that going in.

My guess is that the copyright holders have got removed from YouTube. They have got a lot stricter on copyright over the past few years particularly on music, films and sports. They are more strict on music then anything else

I don't understand the question.

"Google Play Music was shut down in December 2020 and replaced by YouTube Music. You can transfer your Google Play Music settings, likes, recommendations, and taste profiles to YouTube Music. YouTube Music is available in some countries and regions, and Google is working to expand its availability.

Try Amazon music instead, I had the same issue. Their list isn't nearly as expensive as YouTube music, but it'll serve as the best available replacement

I’m still being sold on it as a subscription. I think every song has a music video on yt. Just have to watch ads.

It's still on my phone but I think I heard they were merging it into YouTube app so maybe that's where it gone on yours.
