Everyone has a mute button, its called walking/driving away, putting on headphones, changing the channel on a tv, blocking a user on a media platform, and many other names depending on the situation, both offline and online.

Free speech is the right to say whatever we want, and that doesn't infringe on the right to ignore anyone we want, so I see no problem here.

I could mute this post, and any replies you make would never be seen by me. Failing that, I could block you, or I could just close the tab.

If someone that annoys you tries to keep you somewhere to listen to them, and they physically stop you from leaving, then defend yourself. Otherwise just remove yourself from communicating with them.
