No, they look perfectly fine.
What about what my friend said?
Gives the impression he's a hardcore videophile who has to have the latest and greatest, or it looks garbage. The switch from HD to 4K wasn't as big as the switch from SD to HD, so HD can still hold it's own with 4K.
My RCA HDtv doesn't look like garbage though
That's because HD is still able to hold it's own against 4k, meaning it still provides a good picture. Now if we were comparing an SD TV to a HD TV, it would be totally different, as SD doesn't hold up to HD.
